Shipping Insurance
Shipping Insurance is typically included in the shipping price. Boat transporters, car shipping companies, RV transporters, and other specialized categories are required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to carry a minimum amount of cargo insurance (insurance to cover your item during shipment) and a minimum amount of liability insurance. Visit www.safersys.org to view information on regulations and restrictions. At www.shipitquick.com we encourage all of our members to have the minimum amount of insurance required by law.

If you are shipping a certain item that is very expensive, contact different carriers.  It will be essential to inquire about their amount of cargo insurance coverage. If your item is valued, not what you think it’s worth, at $300,000 then you really need to shop around for a transporter that carries at least $300,000 in cargo insurance to cover your item in case of total loss. Shipping insurance on freight is usually based on weight.

Shipping/Cargo Insurance is extremely important and you need to verify any information that a transport company tells you. You don’t want to make the mistake of shipping an item that is in an accident and find out that it is not covered for a total loss. There are transporters that don’t carry enough insurance and unfortunately a few don't carry any insurance.  Also, homeowners insurance will not cover item in transport because it is considered a “for hire” job. Please take shipping insurance very seriously, it could save your shipment.
